The Making Of Our "Tree-paldi" Family Christmas Tree Box Photo
These Christmas Tree Box Photos are making the rounds on instagram this year so we just had to give it a try. It turned out to be pretty easy to DIY and while it’s not perfect by any means, it was super fun! And I had minimal complaints from the kids about taking a family photo since it was different & they got to sit in a box which turns out to be way more fun than anyone would think.
I started with looking for a box and since I couldn’t find something big enough I used two boxes that our giant Nutcrackers were shipped in and used packing tape to attach them together. Then we painted the inside green (and only sustained one paint spill! Huzzah!) and I bought this fun garland from Amazon to tape around the outside (which was a bit of a mess but I just needed it to hold for 6 quick photos!). I took the shots of everyone after school really quickly, and had Ollie take my photo. Then I very sloppily edited the photos into a tree in Photoshop. Seriously, DO NOT zoom in LOL! It’s a full on Monet, from far away it’s OK but up close it’s a big old MESS! (Name that movie quote!). From there I moved the whole thing to Canva, added the background and voila! Our tree photo was complete!
Check out the Reel of the whole process over on our Instagram! Should I try this again for Valentine’s Day??
